Arone Meeks is an Aboriginal artist form Far North Queensland, born in 1957 but now lives in Cairns.
He trained in art in Sydney and also won a scholarship to study in Paris. On returning to Cairns he gained knowledge of hie ancestral traditions from elders in particular the Lardil people of Mornington Island.
Arone’s work draws on the curious Quinkan figures found in rock painting in far north Queensland near Laura.
