Terms & Conditions: Provenance, Sales, Returns, Payment & Shipping Policies
Provenance: One of the most important elements in purchasing high quality Aboriginal artworks is Provenance. It is critical to market valuation especially for ‘high end’ investment works. There are three levels of provenance – apart from ‘no provenance’:
Level 1 – Guarantees the origin, artist, quality and previous sales history of the work through formal, market recognised documentation. It is important in acquiring Investment artworks especially by respected and recognised Aboriginal artists. Aboriginal Community Art Centres and established, respected Art Gallery and Auction House documentation are important elements in this level of provenance. Pandanus offers the majority of its artworks within this category.
Level 2 – Documentation demonstrating a formal one-to-one collaborative agreement between the Gallery and Aboriginal Artist/s regarding the purchase and sale of the artists’ works. Some artists prefer to work directly with us for personal, geographic and family reasons, including Hughie Ahwon (Kimberley painter of “Wandjina”), Kay Creek (Kuku Yalanji painter and printer), Billy Missy, Thomas Ahwang and Laurie Nona (Torres Straits Islander limited edition printers and carvers) to mention several.
Level 3 – Some of the most recognised and successful Aboriginal artists have never formally associated with an Aboriginal Art Centre or have had inconsistent relationships with established, reputable galleries or dealers by choice/circumstance. We have a small selection of very high quality artworks in this category that meet the minimum provenance criteria that enable us to guarantee the legitimacy and authenticity of these works.
Sales: We are always delighted to welcome prospective clients to our gallery in tropical Palm Cove however, this is not always practicable. Our Website offers ease of navigation across high quality images of all artworks under various listed categories, prices and size for ease of specific access. Enquiries through the website are simple and a secure eCommerce facility is available. All sales prices are stated in $ Australian. GST is excluded on export sales over A$330.
Guarantee and Returns Policy: All sales are guaranteed in the stated condition at the time of sale. Where packing and freight are supplied,
insurance is not included unless arranged and paid for separately. If shipped artwork/s received by clients – that have not been damaged or compromised during the shipping process – are not as specified at the time of sale, Pandanus Gallery will replace the artwork with an equivalent or reimburse the client in full on its return in the same condition in which it was shipped. The Gallery has had an impeccable track record with shipments around the globe. However in the unlikely event a loss or damage occurs and the artwork is not insured we will work with the client to resolve a solution with the shipping company, but we cannot guarantee an outcome.
Payment: Payment on all sales – LayBy excepted – is to be made prior to delivery/shipment of the artwork/s. A range of options is available, including LayBy, credit cards, PayPal, cheque and cash as appropriate to client needs. Direct deposit is also available if preferred, details of which are available on request including fully secure International Transaction protocols.
Packing and Shipping: We ship around the world and have an impeccable track record of consistent delivery outcomes over a decade. Insurance is generally not available with most shipping companies but can be arranged in some circumstances on request.
Packing of acrylic paintings is either as stretched or rolled in a tube which minimises freight cost and maximises security and integrity of the artwork. Natural pigment paintings, including Arnhem Land barks are expertly wrapped, boxed and the box itself is wrapped. Sculptures and carvings generally require custom made crates all of which are charged at cost. Quotations for shipping are supplied on request. For Website sales/enquiries the facility to request a shipping quotation is readily available. Shipping times are usually within 24 hours of completion of the sale or based on client timing and/or preferences.
