Laurie Nona was born in 1974 and lives and works on Badu Island in the Torres Straits. He currently managed the art centre on the island.
Laurie is principally at prin-tmaker, working with lino-cuts and copper plate etching.
His work shows strong influence of the patterning used in traditional carving. The subject matter relates to his cultural heritage mingled with the strong connection to the sea life and creatures, as so much of islander life is spent on or around the water.
