Biography
Liddy Napanangka Walker was born around 1925 at Mount Theo. She inherited her ‘Dreaming’ totems from her father and grandfather. These totems formed part of her paintings, Bush Tomato, Goanna, Seed Pod, Bush Potato and Jumping Mouse.
The subject matter of her painting later in life was mostly ‘Dogwood Tree Dreaming. This is an Acacia tree that grows on creek banks and close to Mulga trees. It has many uses for Aboriginal people, making of boomerangs, the seeds can be eaten raw or roasted, the dried seeds are used to make a sweet drink and of course it is a good firewood.
Liddy, who passed away in 2017, was one of my favorite Warlukurlangu artists.
