Beautiful Dorothy Napangardi Art For Sale
Pandanus Aboriginal Art is proud to display a wonderful collection of artworks from famed Indigenous artists throughout the country. We strive to select pieces from artists that represent the cultural significance of the Indigenous art-movement in Australia, and in turn hope to facilitate greater understanding of and respect for Aboriginal life and ‘reality’ through what could be described as one of the greatest art movements in human history, in the broader general population of Australia and beyond.
We have a collection of paintings from some of the truly unique, great Aboriginal artists, including Dorothy Napangardi, available for sale at our Gallery in Palm Cove and online store. Napangardi was a pivotal member of the contemporary Indigenous art movement during the 1990s who continued up till her untimely death in 2103. Her dramatic, often monochrome works feature in museums across the world – including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and the Linden Museum in Stuttgart, Germany.
Feel free to peruse our collection and also contact Pandanus to find out more information on these selected pieces.
The Art of Dorothy Napangardi
Napangardi is widely renowned as one of Australia’s most important contemporary Indigenous artists. She won the first prize title at the 18th National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award for her incredible piece Salt on Mina Mina, and throughout her life held exhibitions at museums in Australia and overseas. She was hailed for her ability to create a strong sense of lifelike movement on the canvas, and for evoking the ideas of Jukurrpa – the sacred Dreamtime events and characters – which involves the creation of her ancestral lands in salt-pan county in the Tanami desert, and movement of people across the land.
Although it is difficult to find high quality work by Dorothy Napangardi, Pandanus Aboriginal Art has offered a number of magnificent paintings by her in the past and from time to time has equivalent superb works in stock.
