In the Ngarrangkarni (The Dreaming) Warranany the eagle asked Wangkarnal the crow (his wife) to cook some kangaroo meat for him. She was lazy and fell asleep. When she woke she wanted to eat some of what the eagle had cooked. He burned Manjal (white quartz) until it was a red hot spearhead and stabbed the crow in the eye. Thus some crows have a white eye. The white section to the left of the central motif is a band of pure white quartz that is clearly visible on the hills behind Warmun. Natural ochres and pigments on canvas
