Don’s paintings have the authenticity of the initiated older Kunwinjku men whose works focus on relationships within the artists’ ceremonial and/or daily lives. This is an evocative painting of the Nail Fish showing water lillies growing on the fish’s back – similar to the traditional depiction of the sacred rainbow serpent within its ancient watery environment.
