This painting depicts the Marlu Jukurrpa – Red Kangaroo. Kanfgaroo are a highly valued food source by the Warlpiri people of the westwen deserts.The story in this painting is of an old Ancestral kangaroo named Warlawee who made his camp at Jurnti moving about, hunting during the day and returning to the camp at night. The camp consists of depressions dug in the soft ground. He traveled long distances looking for his preferred food, yukuri which is fresh green growth foung under Mulga trees. He thinks about having a ceremony for men. Wopmen are not permitted to dance at this ceremony.
