This is a very important artwork representing sacred sand painting originating during the Jukurrpa (Dreamtime) for men of the Japaljarri and Jungarrayi skin moieties. It is prepared for initiation ceremonies involving boys from far flung communities being distant relatives to whom the ceremony and its development processes are of vital importance. Being sacred in nature full details of the celestial content is unavailable however the motifs in the painting refer to content of both body decoration and wooden carvings of stars laid out within the ground painting itself.
